Dublin Local History - The Liberties area
Are you interested in local history? Explore The Liberties area, located in Dublin 8 and its surrounding in this blog post!
The Liberties area, in central Dublin, is traditionally known as one of Dublin’s most historic working-class neighbourhoods since the 12th Century, especially associated with market traders and local family-owned businesses, as well as the Guinness brewery, whiskey distilling, textiles industry and tenement housing according to Wikipedia.
This is also where Warrenmount Community Education Centre is located and many other historical tourist attractions in the city.
Take a virtual tour through the most famous streets of the Liberties by checking out the map released by Dublin City Council and The Liberties Dublin, and some photos we took with our learners in the past at our local history classes. Check them out below!
