Mindfulness – Evening Course

Join our tutor, Anne Hannan, every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8.30pm from the 26th September 2017. This an introduction to mindfulness so it is suitable for beginners.

Mindfulness is a special way of paying attention that can help with how you cope with everyday life, or bounce back from tough times. Our mindfulness course will introduce you to techniques that can help you to discover the simple and very powerful practice of training our attention. Mindfulness is something that everyone can develop, and it’s something that everyone stands to gain from.

It is a simple and very powerful practice of training our attention. It’s simple in that it’s really just about paying attention to what’s happening here and now (i.e. sensations, thoughts, and emotions) in a non-judgemental way.

It’s powerful because it can interrupt the habit of getting lost in thoughts, mostly about the future or the past, which often generates more stress on top of the existing pressures of everyday life.

Over the last 30 years, academic research in the fields of neuroscience, psychology and medicine have documented the wide-ranging benefits of learning to meditate. With practice, mindfulness can serve as the perfect antidote to healing stress that can sometimes undermine our health, performance and quality of life, and can provide a sensation of relaxation. The evidence has shown that it can be an effective aid in the treatment of many mental and physical health issues, as well as generally improving our performance, relationships, and well-being.
